The General Secretariat Team of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) held its weekly meeting, presided over by the Secretary General Professor Michel Abs, with an online participation of the Associate Secretary General Rev. Dr. Refaat Fikry, and colleagues from various departments, both in person and online. The meeting took place on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, at the MECC headquarters in Beirut.
As every week, the meeting began with a Biblical Reflection and Prayer, during which the brothers and sisters raised their Prayers on the occasion of the Feast of the Chiefs of the Apostles Peter and Paul, Founders of the Antiochian See, celebrated on June 29, and the Feast of the Twelve Apostles, celebrated on June 30.
In this context, Father Dr. Antoine Al Ahmar, the Director of the MECC Theological and Ecumenical Department, presented a spiritual reflection on the two occasions, based on a Biblical Text from Acts 9:1-25.
The meeting also included discussions on various MECC affairs, particularly the follow-up coordination for the MECC Executive Committee meeting, which will be held next week.
In addition, the MECC General Secretariat team held a farewell gathering for our colleague Mrs. Roula Saliba, the Human Resources Senior Officer, who is leaving the Council after a journey in the Ecumenical world and humanitarian work that lasted for 2 years of giving, dedication, and loyalty to the MECC mission. She was known for her competence, love, and continuous support for all colleagues, partners, and friends.
For the occasion, the MECC Secretary General Professor Michel Abs, delivered a speech in which he praised our colleague Roula's efforts, competence, experience, and practical and training performance.
Dr. Abs also thanked her for her giving and diligence, and wished her success in his new journey. As well as, he offered her the medal for the Fiftieth Year of the MECC Founding as a token of love and appreciation.
In her turn, our colleague Roula thanked the Secretary General Professor Michel Abs for his constant support, stressing that the Middle East Council of Churches is a school and a family that she is proud of, and expressed how pleased she was to get to know the colleagues and work with them.
“Dear Colleague Roula”, thank you for your efforts, sacrifices, and tireless work... We wish you good health and continued success, as well as many years of happiness and blessings, asking God to grant you His grace and accompany you in every step you take.
