  • The Health Ministry announced on Saturday 03 April, that 120 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Syria, adding that 113 coronavirus patients recovered, and 11 others passed away.

  • In a statement, the Ministry noted that the total number of the coronavirus cases recorded in Syria has reached up to 19,284 till now, of which 13,090 have recovered, and 1,299 others have passed away.[2]

  • 19284 laboratory-confirmed cases have been reported by the Syrian MoH : 4472 in Damascus; 2849 in Lattakia; 2570 in Aleppo; 2502 in Homs; 2016 in Rural Damascus; 1573 in Tartous; 1025 in Dar’a; 981 in Sweida; 773 in Hama; 376 in Quneitra; 91 in Deir-Ez-Zor; 49 in Al-Hasakeh and 7 in Ar-Raqqa.

  • COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in Syria within days from China, Russia and the World Health Organization, The vaccines will be administered “according to a clear system”, the prime minister said on Saturday 3 April.[3]

 

Preventive Measures

  • The Prime Minister issued on 4 April a decision to suspend work or reduce the number of employees working in ministries and public agencies in which the suspension of work does not affect economic and productive activity temporarily until April 15, 2021 according to specific principles.[4]

  • Education Ministry announced on Saturday 3 Apr, the end of school year of kindergarten and the classes from first to fourth of basic education stage , and suspension of school attendance of the classes from fifth to eight of basic education as of April 5th, 2021.[5]

  • The Ministry of Education decided to suspend the working hours of its institutes, "industrial, commercial, home economics, computer technologies, sports, artistic and music education", for a period of two weeks, from Monday April 5 to Saturday April 17, in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.[6]

  • Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has issued the following decision:  

o  Preventive measures will be applied from 04 April by controlling and restricting entry, exit, and visits in homes for the elderly, people without family care, and institutes for juveniles and beggars.

o  Instructions issued by the Ministry of Education shall be applied to the institutes of disability and social welfare institutes affiliated to the Ministry and its associated bodies operating within the school system.

o  Working hours are suspended from April 5 to April 17 in special and private disability centers, community centers, youth empowerment centers, government, private and private nurseries, and all workshops and training and rehabilitation courses related to the work of the Ministry.[7]

  • During this reporting period, the average number of cases dropped to 3,026.

  • The government imposed a lockdown during the Easter Holidays in Lebanon.

  • The Ministry of Public Health stated that the approved certificate for those who received two doses of the vaccine through the ministry is the electronic certificate that contains the bar code and issued on the data page of the concerned person on the electronic platform and does not need a signature or stamp from the ministry.

  • The Minister of Public Health pointed out that positive indicators have started to emerge for the national vaccination campaign by recording a decline in the mortality rate among the target groups.

  • The administrative and justice officer of the Internal Security at the airport Forces arrested counterfeiters of PCR tests.

  • The Presidency of the Council of Ministers issued Circular No. 5/2021 on 3/26/2021, whereby, based on the proposal of the Ministerial Committee, all public departments and institutions are required to work with an attendance rate not exceeding 50%

  • Under the patronage of the Minister of Health, a vaccination center was opened at the Balamand University.

  • The Iraqi government dispatched medical equipment to the Ministry of health. As such, the Iraqi Health Minister traveled to Lebanon and convened with Minister Hamad Hasan for the occasion.
