Meditation Of His Beatitude Patriarch Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa : Baptism of the Lord
Lk 3, 15-16.21-22
The feast of the Epiphany, which we recently celebrated, tells us something fundamental about our faith.
It tells us that God reveals himself, that he does not remain hidden: his mystery of love, which had remained hidden throughout the centuries, is now revealed, and revealed fully. Jesus, the Word who took on our flesh, reveals this mystery to us, reveals the face of the Father.
The entire history of salvation is permeated with small and large theophanies. Now everything is condensed in the story of Jesus: when we look at Him we see, as far as we can, the face of the Father, that is, His nature, His way of being.
We saw in Epiphany that God’s way of revealing himself is paradoxical. Normally, those who want to reveal themselves show themselves. God, on the other hand, hides to reveal Himself. He does not hide to be sought after, but because charity is something that happens in secret, that is delivered without fanfare.

Sermon of His Beatitude Patriarch John X at the New Year's Liturgy
My Beloved Ones,
From Antioch, the city of light that first called the disciples “Christians” and Christianized the entire world; from Antioch, adorned with the glory of its Lord, revealing the truth of the Incarnation and enveloping the universe in the name of Christ;
From the Maryamite of Damascus, at whose gates Paul heard that voice: “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”—a voice that settled in his heart and enabled him to overcome the barriers of nations;
From the whiteness of Lebanon's snow, Lebanon who was celebrated by the Psalmist for the immortality of its cedars, and from Mount Hermon, in whose snowmelt water Christ was baptized in the Jordan;
From Straight Street, from corners that, since the youth of their stones, have preserved the voice of Paul and the stirring of Ananias’ heart;

Meditation Of His Beatitude Patriarch Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa : II Sunday after Christmas
John 1:1-18
The Prologue of John (John 1:1-18), which we read this Sunday, serves as the foundation, the basis on which the evangelist John then builds the rest of his Gospel.
However, the prolog is not only the basis, the principle of the Gospel: it is also the basis and the principle of our life of faith, of our relationship with the Lord: it gives us the coordinates on which we then move, a point of reference to which we return again and again to check the conformity of our life with that of the Lord.
The Prologue has two levels.
The first is that of revelation.
In the prolog there are many terms that speak of a God who reveals Himself: Word, light, testimony, truth, right up to the last verse in which John clarifies that “No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known” (John 1,18).
