  • Health Ministry announced on Sunday 16 May, that 45 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Syria, adding that 297 coronavirus patients recovered, and 5 others passed away.

  • The Ministry said in statement on Sunday 16 May, that the total number of coronavirus cases recorded in Syria has reached 23,738 till now, of which 20,780 have recovered and 1, 698 have passed away. [2]  

  • 23738 laboratory-confirmed cases have been reported by the Syrian MoH : 5281 in Damascus; 3704 in Lattakia; 3305 in Aleppo; 2874 in Homs; 2474 in Rural Damascus; 1800 in Tartous; 1261 in Dar’a; 1233 in Sweida; 1023 in Hama; 469 in Quneitra; 206 in Deir-Ez-Zor; 94 in Al-Hasakeh and 14 in Ar-Raqqa.   • During this reporting period, the average number of cases dropped to 461 per day.

  • Due to the improvement in the epidemiological situation and the remarkable decrease in the number of infections, a 2-day closure was implemented during the Happy Eid Al Fitr period.

  • On the 15th of May, the MOPH declared that it has received 46,800 doses of vaccines.

  • The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces released a report claiming that 50,681 written minutes have been written against violators of the decisions of general mobilization since 01/14/2021.

  • The Ministry of Interior and Municipalities issued Memorandum No. 23 / A / M / 2021 on April 12, 2021 regarding conditions and instructions related to authorizing organizations and charities to distribute food during the blessed month of Ramadan.

  • On Saturday 15/5/2021, the work time for restaurants in open areas was extended until 12:30 at night, with an emphasis on taking all preventive measures and measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

  • It is also allowed to hold prayers in places of worship while adhering to the preventive measures and procedures for Coronavirus and social distancing within 30% of their absorptive capacity.
