MECC Contributes to Spreading the Joy of Christmas
Holidays’ Exhibitions Enhance the Lebanese’ Capacities and Expertise
During the month of December and on the occasion of Christmas, beneficiaries from the Middle East Council of Churches’ “Homemade goods” program participated in four exhibitions with the help of the MECC Service and Relief – Diakonia Department, Beirut’s Office. Under the umbrella Andaket Pro, Bazbina and Shadra cooperatives, beneficiaries displayed their products while hoisting MECC banners. Two of the events they attended occurred in Beirut where they displaced a variety of homemade goods such as Jam, olives, fermented vegetables, and Zaatar and sold them at affordable prices. Similarly, they attended the exhibitions held in Jbeil and Kobayyat, where they received customers hoping to purchase all-natural products untainted by factory chemicals.
The program was organized with the support of the international humanitarian organization “Evangelical Lutheran Church in America” (ELCA). What bolstered the beneficiaries’ ability to sell their products, was the Christmas decoration ornamenting their stands and the amicable attitude of those serving customers. In both locations, beneficiaries had the opportunity not only to sell their products but to also market them in promotion of their brand name.
Both events were joyful and ecstatic as shoppers examined the products with great curiosity and interest. Filled with the Christmas spirit both beneficiaries and shoppers mingled with one another in brotherly love and affection. When one person sends his or her greeting it is reciprocated with a warm smile. When one person has an inquiry, it is responded to by a well-informed answer. As a result, the whole occasion was pulsating with positive vibes and a lively presence.
As for the remainder of the exhibitions, they were adorned with other stands that displaced handmade items which can be used as Christmas decorations. Moreover, other stands displayed handmade necklaces and similar accessories that can be worn for any season. They also sold other products of comparative value.
