In the new issue of the weekly newsletter Momentum issued by the Communication and Public Relations Department of the Middle East Council of Churches, you can find details and photos about the intellectual seminar held by MECC in partnership with the OHCHR under the title "Dignity, Freedom and Justice", for the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, on Wednesday 11 January 2023, at the headquarters of the MECC General Secretariat in Beirut. As for the weekly message of the MECC Secretary General Dr. Abs, it is entitled “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights... and Dignity”, and it was the speech which he delivered at the seminar.

The issue also highlights the Christmas visits held by Dr. Abs with an MECC delegation to His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, on Friday 6 January 2023, at the Catholicosate in Antelias, Lebanon; and to Father Andraos Al Anthouny, Pastor of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Lebanon, on Thursday 11 January 2023, at the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate in Beirut.

In addition, the issue includes a news about the Enthronement ceremony of His Beatitude Archbishop Georgios as Archbishop of New Justinian and All Cyprus, as the 76th head of Cyprus’ Church.

In the issue, MECC invites you to a lecture which will be presented by the MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs under the title “Religion and Power: Relations and Challenges”, on Wednesday 25 January 2023, at 6 pm, in Joseph Zaarour hall, 6th floor, Humanities Campus, in Saint Joseph University (USJ) in Beirut, Al Sham Road. This lecture is part of a series of lectures organized by the Department of Religious Sciences at the Faculty of Religious Sciences, at USJ, around the topic "The Relation Between Power and Religion".

You can also find a news about the Christmas activity implemented by the MECC Service and Relief – Diakonia Department, Beirut’s Office, as well as the “Week of Prayer for Christian Unity” 2023 booklet, and the daily Prayers, meditations, and reflections for the week of Prayer which are included in the booklet.
