His Beatitude Archbishop Georgios,

Archbishop of New Justinian and All Cyprus

Your Beatitude,

With joy and happiness, we congratulate you, on behalf of the Middle East Council of Churches- MECC, for your election as Archbishop of New Justinian and All Cyprus, at the Throne of the Apostolic and Ancient Church of Cyprus.

Your Beatitude, Your God blessed leadership comes in particularly demanding and challenging times of political, economic, regional and international instability. Churches are going through the most dangerous epochs of their history and are called to navigate in a deeply polarized world where Christian values are ignored.

However, Your decades-long ministry as the Bishop of Paphos, as well as Your knowledge and experience as professor, provide You with adequate methods and procedures of promoting dialogue, reconciliation and peace among rivaling groups.

We are sure that You will handle issues with great caution and vigilance, and You will contribute to the harmonious conviviality and peace building efforts of the churches in the region and worldwide.

We prayerfully wish You to actively continue being involved in the ecumenical life in Cyprus and the Middle East, strengthening the bonds of love and unity among Christians and the ecumenical family of the churches.

Wishing You a prosperous and long years of successful ministry.

In Christ

Dr. Michel E. Abs

Secretary General
