Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs with an MECC Delegation on a Visit to His Beatitude Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian
The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Dr. Michel Abs, heading a delegation from MECC, visited His Beatitude Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian, Catholicos of the Armenian Catholic Church of Cilicia, and President of the Middle East Council of Churches for the Catholic Family, on Tuesday 19 December 2023, at the Patriarchate’s headquarters in Achrafieh - Lebanon.
The MECC delegation included the MECC Associate Secretary General Mrs. Seta Hadeshian, the Director of the Theological and Ecumenical Department Father Dr. Antoine Al Ahmar, the Financial Director Ms. Laudy Al Khoury, the Social Media Officer Sub-Deacon Chady Chata, the Coordinator of the Ecumenical Musical Event that MECC will hold in 2024 Mr. Marc Merhej, and a Chorist in the recital Ms. Rita Kouroumilian.
During the visit, the Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs presented, on behalf of the Middle East Council of Churches, his greetings to His Beatitude Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian on the occasion of the Fiftieth Jubilee of his Priestly ordination, wishing him good health and continuous success in his Pastoral mission and many years of goodness, blessings and holiness.
Dr. Abs also informed His Beatitude about the ongoing preparations for the MECC fifty-year jubilee of its founding in 2024, in addition to the most important activities that the Council will organize for the occasion. Hence, Dr. Abs asked the blessing of His Beatitude for the Ecumenical musical event that MECC will hold next January, and invited him to participate in it. Noting that this event will bring together a group of musical choirs from various Church families and Liturgical traditions.
In this context, the attendees discussed the issue of Church unity and topics related to the Ecumenical relations between Churches, where they stressed the importance of meeting and building bridges between them. In addition, the attendees discussed issues related to the developments of the difficult circumstances that the country and the region are going through, especially the ongoing war in Gaza and its massive repercussions.
