A Delegation from Global Ministries Visiting the MECC Offices in Jordan
A delegation from the Middle East Council of Churches’ partners, United Church of Christ Canada, United Church of Christ America and Disciples of Christ (Global Ministries), headed by Dr. Peter Makari, the Global Relations Minister of the Middle East and Europe Global Ministries, visited the MECC offices in Amman, Jordan, on 22 of April 2023.

The meeting began with a discussion on the importance of this partnership with a focus on strengthening the long and continuous partnership and expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to discuss this issue and explore ways to further enhance collaboration.
The MECC Jordan team gave a detailed presentation on their humanitarian work and the services they provide to support the most vulnerable refugees and host communities. They shared a short video showcasing their work in Jordan over the past 10 years, and was well received by the attendees.
Following the visit to the MECC Jordan offices, the delegation, along with the MECC staff, visited St. George Church (Al Khader). The attendees were given a tour of the Orthodox Church, which was built in 1682 AD and restored in 2004. The Church is considered one of the most important landmarks of the heritage path of Al Salt, and many Christians in the region believe in the presence of several miracles that have occurred in this Church and that are still taking place.
The meeting concluded with the attendees expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to learn more about the work of MECC Jordan and their visit to St. George Church (Al Khader). They agreed to continue exploring ways to strengthen the partnership between their organizations and support the humanitarian work being done in the region.
