His Grace Bishop Anba Ermia Receives the MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs and A Delegation from the Council

Emphasizing the Importance of Dialogue, Social Cohesion, and Media Cooperation

His Grace Bishop Anba Ermia, General Bishop, President of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center and Assistant Secretary General of the Egyptian Family House, received the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Dr. Michel Abs, and a delegation from the Council at the Center's headquarters - Cairo.

The meeting was attended by the MECC Honorary Secretary General Dr. Gergis Saleh, the MECC Associate Secretary General Reverend Dr. Refaat Fikry, and the Media Officer and the Coordinator of the Church and Media Relations at MECC, the Journalist Lea Adel Maamary.  

After the reception, His Grace Bishop Anba Ermia welcomed the MECC Secretary General Professor Michel Abs, and the Council's delegation, stressing that his visit carries in its dimensions the meanings of love, convergence, and joint Christian work for the good of humanity and society. He also praised the media development witnessed by the Council's media in a way that reflects reality and keeps pace with all Church social and media issues.

In his turn, Professor Michel Abs thanked His Eminence, stressing the true fraternity that brings them together and all the work, activities and programs His Eminence does in the Center, MESat Channel and the Egyptian Family House, all of which constitute a clear model of thought, creativity, service and giving.

Both parties also talked about the topic of dialogue and how to activate it by the Council and Church institutions and discussed the challenges facing the region. They stressed that it is one of the givens of human existence and the only way to communicate with others intellectually, culturally and educationally. In addition, dialogue is an essential means to ensure peace in society.

After that, the Journalist Lea Adel Maamary presented an explanation of the Council's media strategy for the year 2025 and the media development that it will witness. His Eminence welcomed all the proposals, expressing his readiness, the Center's readiness and the MESat Channel's readiness to fully cooperate and exchange media materials in order to spread the constructive and purposeful word.

At the end, His Grace Bishop Anba Ermia offered new books and publications to Dr. Michel Abs and the Council’s delegation.
