The MECC Secretary General Professor Michel Abs Meets with the MECC President His Grace Anba Antonios in Beirut

As part of his visit to Lebanon, His Grace Anba Antonios, Metropolitan of Jerusalem and the Near East for the Coptic Orthodox Church, and President of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) for the Eastern Orthodox Family, received the MECC Secretary General Professor Michel Abs, in the presence of Father Andraos Al Anthouny, Pastor of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Lebanon and Syria. The meeting took place at the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate in Beirut on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

During the meeting, His Grace Anba Antonios emphasized the need for solidarity and cooperation to support the people of the region and help them overcome the difficulties they are facing. He also offered his support for the work and mission of the Middle East Council of Churches.

In his turn, the Secretary General Professor Michel Abs briefed His Grave on the latest developments in the MECC work and its most prominent programs at various Ecumenical, Theological, humanitarian, relief, and media levels.

Both sides also exchanged views and aspirations regarding the circumstances that the region is passing through, as well as the current challenges and ways to develop the work mechanisms in order to achieve the desired Ecumenical and humanitarian goals.

It is worth mentioning that the visit of His Grace Anba Antonios to Lebanon will be crowned with many Prayers, most notably the inauguration of the Syriac Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Atchaneh, and participation in the ordination of a new Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of India.
