Psychological and Spiritual Support Sessions in the Heart of the Lebanese Nature

The MECC Theological and Ecumenical Department implemented a new training as part of the “Trauma Healing and Spiritual Counseling” program for a group of youth at the Convent of the Congregation of Maronite Sisters of the Holy Family in Akoura, Lebanon, from Thursday 16 to Sunday 19 September 2021. The training was organized by the program coordinator Sister Emilie Tannous in cooperation with the coordinator of the department's programs Jean-Pierre Eid.

As the Middle East is celebrating for the first time the international "Season of Creation", it worth highlighting the Anaphora environmental center, home of the Coptic Church, in Egypt.

The video presents an introductory report about this center for retreat and Prayer, its main objectives and the sections it is formed with.

The importance of serving the weak and poor by sharing the Gifts of God, and the necessity of living together with love and equality.

The third episode of the program "Days of the Season of Creation" 2021 was broadcasted on Thursday, September 16, at 8:30 pm Beirut time and 5:30 GMT, and reran on Friday, September 17, 2021. The program is prepared in cooperation between Télé Lumière and Noursat and the Middle East Council of Churches. It is launched in the context of the international celebrations of the “Season of Creation” and will be broadcasted throughout the month of September. With the launching of the “Season of Creation” celebrations in the world and the Middle East, it is worth mentioning the necessity to protect the environment and diversity, because the universe is going on through the bounties of nature and earth.

This video presents a report that sheds light on the importance of this Ecological and Christian season and the preservation of the common home and all its creatures.

A delegation from the international humanitarian organization Danmission visited on Tuesday September 14, 2021, the headquarters of the Middle East Council of Churches in Beirut, Lebanon. The delegation included Programme Consultant for Dialogue and Theological Education Reverend Agnete G. Holm and Programme Advisor, Theology and Church Development MENA Mr. Ekkardt A. Sonntag.

MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, Director of the Theological and Ecumenical Department Father Dr. Antoine Al Ahmar and the department’s coordinator Mr. Jean-Pierre Eid welcomed the delegation.

Peacemaking As Home-Building

At the invitation of the Middle East Council of Churches, the “Days of the Season of Creation” 2021 were inaugurated for the first time in the East, during an Ecumenical Prayer service. It was held under the patronage and presence of the President of the National Evangelical Union in Lebanon and President of the Council for the Evangelical Family HE Reverend Dr. Habib Badr, at the National Evangelical Church in Beirut. The Communication and Public Relations Department at the Middle East Council of Churches have now issued its Ecumenical calendar for the month of September 2021. It includes the Ecclesiastical and Liturgical feasts of the various families of Churches in the Middle East. In addition to international days identified by the United Nations, and which are related to the MECC identity and its spiritual and human mission. Noting that the remaining months of the year will be published consecutively.

Télé Lumière and Noursat channel broadcasted the first episode of the "Days of the Season of Creation" 2021 on Thursday, September 2 at 8:30 pm Beirut time. The content was prepared by the Communication and Public Relations Department and presented by Lawyer Roy Jreich. This was the first of many episodes of the new television series the department worked on on the occasion of the “Season of Creation 2021” launching for the first time in the Middle East.

Ecumenical Prayer from the National Evangelical Church in Beirut

Under the patronage and presence of the President of the National Evangelical Union in Lebanon and President of the Council for the Evangelical Family HE Reverend Dr. Habib Badr, the Middle East Council of Churches inaugurated the “Days of the Season of Creation” 2021 for the first time in the Middle East. An Ecumenical Prayer service was held on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at 5 pm Beirut time, with the generous hospitality of the National Evangelical Church in Beirut.

With the beginning of the “Season of Creation” 2021 in the Middle East, the MECC Communication and Public Relations Department, and the Council’s Ecojustice Adhoc Committee continue the series of environmental videos that they had previously launched. A new video is now released and focuses on the “Season of Creation” theme for the year 2021, on the human responsibility in preserving the common home and the importance of preventing its destruction. «El Tiempo de la Creación»: Un recién nacido en Oriente

Como ya se había anunciado, el Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio lanzó por primera vez en la región el proyecto «Tiempo de la Creación 2021» para que los habitantes del Oriente puedan rezar y trabajar por la protección de la creación, entre el 1 de septiembre y el 4 de octubre de cada año. Para ello, el Consejo ha creado un comité especial denominado «Comité Adhoc de Eco-Justicia» que se encargará de gestionar todos los preparativos de este «Tiempo», así como sus celebraciones y actividades en el Medio Oriente.
