MECC and Gulf Fellowship of Churches

Developing together the Ecumenical and Ecclesiastical relations

Dr. Michel Abs, the Middle East Council of Churches Secretary General, held on 2 December, an online meeting with the Gulf Fellowship of Churches (GFC) Executive Board Moderator HE Bishop Mesrob Sarkissian. Mrs. Seta Hadeshian MECC’s Executive Assistant also attended the meeting, that aimed to strengthen the partnership and cooperation between both organizations in future projects.

The meeting started with introductory words exchanged by Dr. Michel Abs, Secretary General, and HE Bishop Mesrob Sarkissian who made a briefing on the GFC and its mission. Thus, the discussions were centered around the GFC’s objectives, meetings, structure, ecumenical relations and Church networking; in addition to the MECC role and expectations from this meeting. The attendees have also tackled their common challenges and problems, the rules and regulations of the Churches in the Gulf, the Christian presence and migrants’ circumstances in this region, as well as other important issues.

At the end, it was agreed to renew and develop the relations and communication between the Middle East Council of Churches and the Gulf Fellowship of Churches. The attendees invited each other to participate in their Executive Committees’ meetings, and have agreed to meet again for future strategic plans, cooperation and work.
