MECC Participating in Arigatou International Webinar: Necessity of Raising Children to Live Together
Following an invitation from Arigatou International organization dedicated to children, the Middle East Council of Churches participated in a webinar that was held in order to launch the “Learning To Live Together manual to Middle Childhood”. MECC was represented by its Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs and the coordinator of the Trauma and Wound Healing and Spiritual Counseling Program of the Theological and Ecumenical Department Sister Emilie Tannous.
The meeting was organized within the framework of “The Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC)” program, which targets teachers, educators, youth leaders and social workers aiming at working to develop the quality of education and raising children on moral and spiritual values.
The webinar was attended by a group of stakeholders concerned with Middle Eastern issues such as childhood care and interfaith dialogue. Noting that the webinar was co-organized with the Regional Higher Committee of Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi. The meeting included introductory sessions between the participants in order to strengthen the network of international relations aiming at coordinating together to achieve future humanitarian projects and programs.
The “Learning To Live Together manual to Middle Childhood” was also introduced. It is worth mentioning that it was prepared by Arigatou International in cooperation with UNICEF and UNESCO. It includes tools and guidelines for teachers, educators and youth leaders that work in schools and communities which includes different religions. The manual will be translated into Arabic so it can be available in October 2021.
During the meeting, Sister Emilie Tannous made an intervention in which she stressed on the need of searching for trainers and raising them to work with a strong internal conviction in the field of managing diversity and living together.
