His Beatitude Patriarch John X at the Service of the Akathist Hymn from the Church of Saints Isaac and George in Qatar:

March 28, 2025

"How lovely and pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity."

His Beatitude Patriarch John X, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, and President of the Middle East Council of Churches for the Orthodox Family, officiated the fourth Akathist Hymn service at the Church of Saints Isaac and George in Qatar. Metropolitans Athanasios Fahd of Latakia and Makarios from the Church of Jerusalem concelebrated with His Beatitude.

At the end of the prayer service, His Beatitude addressed Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and All Palestine with a message of fraternal love. He spoke about the position of the Virgin Mary in the Church, emphasizing her esteemed status in both Christianity and Islam as one who unites all people from diverse backgrounds and faiths.

He added: "We share the Apostolic faith with our brethren in other Churches. Hence, I convey to you the love of your brothers in the Holy See of Antioch, both in the homeland and overseas. We face hard and particularly critical circumstances in the Middle East. We are not strangers but natives of the land. In Palestine, Christ was born; in Jerusalem, He lived and entrusted us with the Gospel of salvation in this Levantine land. The face of Christ is present in the East through the presence of the Churches of Jerusalem and Antioch. Therefore, it is our shared responsibility to transmit this apostolic faith across generations."
